Event settings

Updated by Bob Medlin

Events include risky incidents and driving distractions that are recognized by the Camera, based on the driver's behavior and the motion of the vehicle. The fleet manager/account administrator can configure these events to control how the events are handled and whether to receive email alerts.

From event settings, you can customize the events that are triggered to meet the needs of each vehicle and fleet. Settings can be applied for an individual vehicle or for multiple vehicles at once.

To configure settings and email alerts

  1. Log into your MICHELIN Connected Fleet Cameras Portal and from the navigation bar, click
    i-events.png
The list of Camera Devices loads.
  2. Click the settings cog next to the vehicle for which you would like to change its settings. To configure settings for multiple dashcams simultaneously, see Bulk events settings.
  1. A window opens with the Event Settings list.

  1. Toggle on to enable and toggle off to disable.
  1. Select the type of vehicle in which the Camera is installed.
This setting determines the sensitivity for each of the events. For example, vibration or turns change based on the kind of vehicle, and so events are triggered differently. From the top of the window, open the dropdown list to select one of the available options.
  1. From the scroll down menu next to each event, select how you want the event to be handled.

You can decide whether you would like the event to be:

  • Off - The event won’t be captured by the camera; the event won't be registered, and the video won't automatically upload to the cloud
  • Event Only - The event is registered and uploaded to the cloud as text.
If needed, recordings can be retrieved from the camera's SD card. Read more about recordings when this setting is configured.
  • Snapshot - The event is registered and a snapshot is uploaded to the cloud
If needed, recordings can be retrieved from the camera's SD card. Read more about recordings when this setting is configured.
  • Video - The event is registered and the video of the event is automatically uploaded to the cloud
Video events capture 10 seconds before and after the event. The recordings and images are saved in the cloud for 31 days.
  1. If relevant, set the additional configurations for the following event types:

    Event

    Parameter

    Speed Limit

Set the maximum speed permitted for the vehicle. When this speed is exceeded, the Speed Limit event is triggered. See What are events? for more details.

    Possible Fatigue

Set the maximum number of consecutive hours (4-20) during which the vehicle should drive before the Possible Fatigue event can be triggered. See What are Events? for more details.

    Lane weaving

Set the number of lane marking lines the vehicle crosses and length of time during which the vehicle crosses those lines before the Lane weaving event is triggered. See What are events? for more details.

Set Email Alerts per event

  1. For the relevant event, click Configure Email Alerts.

The following window pops-up:

  1. Enter a single email address and click ADD.
The email address is added to the list of recipients in the same dialog.

events_configureEmailAlerts
  1. Enter additional email addresses as necessary.
  2. Click the trashcan icon to remove a recipient from the Event email notification list.
  3. When finished, click SAVE.
The email recipients are set, the dialog box closes and the main Event Settings dialog box refreshes with a confirmation that pops up for a few seconds at the bottom.

Bulk events settings

You can customize the events that are triggered for multiple dashcams at once.

To set settings in bulk:

  1. Log into your MICHELIN Connected Fleet Cameras Portal and from the navigation bar, click
  2. Check the boxes next to the individual vehicles or groups of vehicles that have installed cameras.
The Edit Selected button appears at the top.
    events-editSelectedDashcams
  3. Click EDIT SELECTED.
A window opens with the Event Settings list.
    events_bulkEditEventSettings
Toggle on to enable and toggle off to disable.

    • Video - The event is registered and the video of the event is automatically uploaded to the cloud
Video events capture 10 seconds before and after the event. The recordings and images are saved in the cloud for 31 days.
  5. Set the email alerts per event. This will set the alert for all devices selected when doing the bulk edit.
  6. Click SAVE to apply the changes.

Configure event settings for all devices in your organization

In the Settings area, select Organization Settings to turn the Organization profile on and configure the following settings at the organization level:

This will open the Organization Settings menu.

  • Device Settings - configure dashcam settings
  • Event Settings - select how to receive alerts (text notification, snapshot, or video) and add the relevant email recipients
  • Webhook Settings - add a webhook URL address
  • SD Retention Settings - update the recording retention time, in minutes, for each dashcam. The minimum is four minutes.

Current and future dashcams that are part of the organization receive these default settings.

When the Organization settings profile is enabled and users configure settings using a combination of single, bulk and this profile, each existing device is configured based on its most recent updates, regardless of method. Newly added devices are automatically configured with the Organization profile.
